No hace falta que nos digan que los refrescos no son la opción más recomendable en una alimentación saludable. Se componen de las llamadas “calorías vacías” o lo que es lo mismo, hidratos de carbono en forma de azúcar.
Seguro que muchos habéis mirado la información nutricional que aparece en las latas o envases, en primer lugar fíjate si la información aparece por 100ml o por la cantidad total del envase, una vez ahí ¿te haces idea de cuanta cantidad de azúcar son 20 o 30gramos? la recomendación diaria de azúcar que debería ingerir una persona adulta ronda los 50-60 gr, ¿te imaginas tomar 60 gramos de azúcar a “palo seco”? No se te ocurriría jamás, y sin embargo camuflado en un refresco sí.
No soy la primera en avisar del problema del azúcar en las bebidas, pero si con mi forma de hacerte llegar las cosas mediante demostraciones y ejemplos gráficos se que te ayudaré a percibir mejor tu situación. Los datos de la encuesta de Salud Comunitaria de Nueva York muestran que 9 de los 10 barrios con mayor índice de obesidad, también tienen las cifras más altas de consumo de bebidas azucaradas, además con cada bebida de este tipo que un niño toma de más diariamente, aumenta sus posibilidades de ser obeso en un 60%.
Las empresas cada vez utilizan técnicas de mercado más sofisticadas para llegar sobre todo a la población más joven, haciéndote creer que algunos zumos “a base de frutas” son muy sanos cuando no es así. Entre 2008 y 2010 se duplicó la exposición de niños y jóvenes a los anuncios de bebidas gaseosas y en concreto fue Coca-cola quién ocupó tres cuartas partes de la publicidad que se vio en televisión respecto a estas bebidas. Además, por si fuera poco el 63% de los anuncios contaron con un deportista o equipo deportivo, con lo que pretenden mejorar su imagen considerablemente.
